Millions of people every day subject themselves to the deceiving comfort of an office chair. It may feel good at first but it also may be doing a lot of damage. Many office spaces come with a desk and chair with every work station. Oftentimes, the chair was purchased on sale at some online discount office supply store several years ago. There may not be an adjustable back rest or lumbar support. Sadly, these are often the conditions we come in to when starting a new job. There are things you can do to improve your sitting experience at work.

Good Posture - Why?
Good posture is beneficial in a lot of ways. It has a positive effect on our whole body. First off, it helps keep bones and joints in alignment and makes sure muscles are used properly. It helps the spine from becoming bent in an abnormal position. It prevents fatigue since muscles are used in an efficient way. One of the most compelling reasons to have good posture is because it prevents backache and muscular pain.
Good Posture - How?
In order to obtain a good sitting position, first you will need to sit. While you are sitting, make sure your back is straight and shoulders are back. If you can sit in a mesh chair, that can help and they are comfortable. You will want to distribute body weight evenly over your hips and moving on down to the knees, make sure your knees are at a 90-degree angle. Your knees should be in line with or just slightly higher than your hips. Your feet should be flat on the ground in front of you. It may be tempting but it is important not to sit in the same position for more than 30 minutes. If you have a chair that rolls or pivots, don’t twist at the waist. It is better to rotate your whole body instead.
Another way to have good posture is to have an ergonomic chair. In a sense, it is a chair with intuition. This kind of chair helps support your good posture. It encourages you to sit in the proper position. There are also desk converters that allow you to easily adjust your working position from sitting to standing.
